Personal Reflection 2

We learn in this class summary an article from a newspaper. In the summary we should put the main ideas because it includes the importance in the article. If people read the summary and compare between the summary and the main article. But what if we should leave out some parts in the article, like names of people, some cities and years. Summarizing make the big article to small summary with a lot of main information. What is difficult in summarizing is when the article doesn’t have a lot of important ideas but all of it data’s. Also we learned how to do research from websites about any subject that teacher give it to as to search information about it. Also we learned how to find references and we put it in the summary. I think this course is very important for all students because it’s teach you how to take main ideas from an essay or anything that’s more than 500 to 600 words , so it’s easier to read the summary and understand what the subject is about.

Essay #2

Introduction

There are five steps of how people get the stuff and from where. First step is extraction, which means taking the reassures from natural like wood, coal and water. Second step is production, in this step the toxic chemicals added to natural resources to make any stuff. Toxic chemicals make pollution on the air and it’s dangerous for people when they use a stuff mixed with toxic chemicals. After production the third step is distribution which mean selling the stuff cheaply and quickly to produce now stuff. Fourth step is consumption, for example my friend by a new car, I must buy a car better than his car. Last step is disposal, all the stuff will dispose; sometimes it’s dumped or burned. Some stuff we can recycle it, but recycling it’s not solving the problem. If we burn the stuff the toxic chemicals will spread in the air.

Production

In production step, the workers in the industry add the natural resources to toxic chemicals to make a toxic product. The production system in the industry use a lot of amount of natural resources and chemical materials and they use high energy to mix the natural resources with the chemical materials, so the pollution on the air is increasing and very dangers and unhealthy for people in the industry and other people who live near the industry. “The production of too many useful things results in too many useless people’’ (Karl Marx, 1880).

Extraction

Extraction is taking the metals and many materials from the nature like, wood, water, iron, gold, and many things to use it and some industries to make stuff. The problem is people are using more than they need from earth resources. Another problem when they take the resources to the industry, the pollution in the air become more and more and people who works in the industry there health become bad more than people  whose extract the resources from the nature. People must reduce using the resources to solve this problem in all countries around the world.

Distribution

Distribution depends on transporting and the object is selling the stuff quickly and cheap. They make the price down and people will buy the stuff dramatically and after they put new stuff in the shop, so people will go to buy the new stuff again. In the business they should keep the price down, they don’t the real cost of stuff.  So, they can make their stuff going around the world by cheap price.

Disposal

Disposal is the last step of stuff, after the stuff are damaged people through it in trash. The damaged stuff should disposed somewhere, some stuff are dumped or burned and some of them through in the sea. This is also very dangerous because it’s increase the pollution in the air especially when they burn the stuff the toxic chemicals go out in the air. We need new solutions for the damaged stuff like recycling, even if the recycling is not the perfect solution because the pollution will increase more, so they should look for a new solution.

Consumption

Consumers should change their behavior, but changing behavior it’s not enough. People when they shopping sometimes are buying extra things they don’t need it. Some people when they saw a thing better than which they have they think they should buy the better thing, like if someone saw a new car with his neighbor he got jealous and he buy a new car. This is a very dangerous thing in people behavior and they should change it and buy things only they really need it. “Poetry and consumption are the most flattering of diseases” (William Shenstone, 1750).

Consumerism in UAE

The United Arab Emirates has become an important oil and natural gas producer and ranks seventh in the world for both proven oil and proven natural gas reserves. Revenue from these resources has allowed significant social and economic development in the areas of finance, business, education, transportation, housing, health and welfare. As a result, Dubai is gaining a reputation for being the trading, financial and tourist hub of the emirates, while Abu Dhabi is trying to use now technologies and build industries of green energy. While the construction mega-projects and the petroleum, tourism and banking sectors of Dubai and Abu Dhabi grab media headlines, it is the small and medium-sized enterprises that constitute about 90% of all businesses in the federation.

Conclusion

In my opinion, this subject is very dangerous especially for people health. Governments should build the industries outside cities or places where there are no body lives. Also they should do their best to reduce the pollution on the air, and toxic chemicals on the stuff. Every problem has a solution, so we must find solution to live a good life.

Essay 1

                                                            Bluetooth

Bluetooth is short radio waves that were developed by a group of electronics companies to allow any two devices - computers, cell phones, keyboards and many devices to carry out the process of contact alone without wires or cables or any intervention by the user. The system enables Bluetooth devices located within coverage waves to communicate with each other, so you can connect two devices located in different rooms, but Bluetooth should have a strong signal to cover this area.

Bluetooth was developed in 1994 by Sven Mattisson and Haartsen Yap, who were working for Ericsson platforms in Lund, Sweden. Since 1980, companies try to make a new method based on the wireless connection. All these attempts were facing many difficulties are summarized in the additional consumption of electricity, and they face another problem because devices disturb each other.  The biggest problem is that there is no standard basis to work on it. In the meantime, it was believed that  infrared technology is the best solution for communication and wireless connectivity. To achieve this, the 30 companies and there founders, almost in the month of August of 1993 including HP, IBM, try to work together to establish a so-called IrDA Infrared Data Association.  This new technology was struggled with a difficult problem which need for optical communication between different devices as a prerequisite for the completion of the binding process.  Then, they joined with Ericsson Company to find a way to link wireless replaced with wired connectivity. As a result of the research of all companies (Ericsson, Nokia, IBM, Toshiba, and Intel) try to formulate a set of specifications agreed upon, and which is also derived from the knowledge and information from the IrDA. At the end they found the now invention which named Bluetooth.

They developed Bluetooth because they need to solve some problems they faced by connecting some devises, before if they need to send files form computer to other computer they connect the computers by wires  sometimes the devises are far from each other so they need to invent a new thing to send files by wireless. Some digital devices like audio device need two connected with to wires and sometimes need 8 wires or 25 wires, so wireless connection will be easier.

Bluetooth future looks strong, many companies trying to make Bluetooth reach far away to other device. Also cars companies trying to use Bluetooth in cars, so you can start the engine without switch. Sometimes when you send a file from device to other device, if the size of file is very big it’s taking a long time to reach, so the companies now working to solve this problem. As Hans Vestberg said in his interview “Bluetooth is future of wireless connection“(Hans Vestberg, President Ericsson and CEO).

In conclusion I think Bluetooth is very important in our life, its make connection with devices very easy. I use Bluetooth to send music or picture form my lap to my mobile phone or from my friend phone to my phone. In future maybe everything will start working with Bluetooth.

The UAE Established Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s energy company, it coast Dh734.6 Million. Masder Abu Dhabi’s is the first of its kind in the region. There is not a lot of wind in the gulf, but they are working to design special turbine blades to take the benefits of light winds. Masder has been made the first wind farm, Shams1 and Nour1.The two solar plants are 100 megawatt. Masder will produce electricity of 100mw near the Saudi border. When the construction will be done, the wind farm in two years will generate the power. Wind power is more challenging to develop in the GCC than solar power” (Yee, 2011). In the UAE, its limited because the nature of the wind. There a few days the weather becomes windy but not every time.
